Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Agnes Bell Hutcheson was born about 1845, probably in Scotland.
She married Joseph Robinson, a shoemaker and widower with five children on 24 February 1874 in Glasgow.
Shortly after their marriage the family emigrated to Otago on the Invercargill – Agnes’s daughter was born on the ship and a further three children were born after their arrival.
The family settled in Owaka where, in later years they had a farm and where Agnes signed the suffrage petition.
Agnes died at Owaka on 25 December 1922 and Joseph died in 1924, they are buried in the Owaka Cemetery.
