Ann Davis was born about 1833 in Middlesex, England – the daughter of Charles Davis.
She married John Lye Farrant, a sawyer and carpenter, on 29 December 1850 in St Matthew’s, Bethnal Green, London.
The family lived in London and they had 10 children, at least three who died in infancy or early childhood.
Two of their sons emigrated to New Zealand in the 1870s and the rest of the family followed in the 1880s.
They settled in Queenstown where Ann signed the suffrage petition and where she worked as a nurse.
John died there in 1899, he is buried in the Queenstown Cemetery.
After John’s death Ann went to live in Naseby where she died a few months later on 25 September, she is buried in the Naseby Cemetery.
