Anna Eliza (known as Aneliza) was born about 1851. She emigrated to Otago from Donegal, Ireland, with her husband John Vance, in 1878 on the Invercargill.

John worked as a platelayer for the New Zealand Railways. They had 4 sons and lived in Waikouaiti and Balclutha before settling in Palmerston where Aneliza signed the suffrage petition.

She died at her home in Goodwood Rd, Palmerston on March 2nd 1908.

John moved to Dunedin, where he remarried in 1919 and died in 1923.

They are buried with one of their sons in the Palmerston Cemetery.
