Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Ann Walker Robertson was born on 18 November 1871 in Corstorphine, Edinburgh, Scotland – the daughter of John Robertson, a joiner, and Barbara Brown. (See 62 Mrs Robertson)

The family emigrated to Otago in 1880 on the Canterbury and settled in Dunedin.

When Ann signed the suffrage petition she was living with her widowed mother and some of her siblings in Waverley St working as a dressmaker.

Ann married John Lothian, a builder, on 20 December 1899 in Dunedin and they had three children.

The family moved to Waipiata in Central Otago in the 1910s where Ann died on 25 January 1947.

John died at Riverton in Southland in 1955, they are buried together in the Southern Cemetery.
