Caroline Siegel (nee Smidt/Schmidt) was born in Staffordshire, England around 1851. She married Johann Andreas Christian Siegel, a labourer from Germany. The couple had a daughter, Mary Ellen, who was born at Halcombe, near Feilding in 1878. Caroline died in 1930.
