Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Elizabeth Dickson was born about 1860.

She married miner Charles Manderson on 14 April 1882 in the Green Island parish and they had four children.

When Elizabeth signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Walton Park near Fairfield.

In 1903, when the family were living in Mosgiel Junction, Charles took his own life with a shotgun.

He had 'been in a melancholy state of mind, although he had nothing to worry about. He always complained about his head'.

Elizabeth died on 24 May 1932 at her son’s home in North East Valley, Dunedin – she is buried with Charles in the East Taieri Cemetery.
