Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Elizabeth was born about 1860, probably in England, the daughter of Richard Jones, a mechanical engineer, and Elizabeth.

She came to New Zealand with her parents as an infant and they settled in Dunedin.

When Elizabeth signed the suffrage petition they were living in Forth Place, now Warrender Street.

She married John Milmine, an engine driver, on 5 May 1893 at her parents’ home in Forth Place.

Elizabeth and John lived at Studholme Junction in Canterbury where Elizabeth died on 7 April 1896 – she is buried in the Old Waimate Cemetery.

John remarried in 1898 – he died in 1942 and is buried in the Riverton Cemetery.
