Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Elizabeth McNutt was born about 1858 in Ireland – the daughter of William McNutt, a farmer, and Margaret McCrea. (See 137 Mrs McNutt)

Elizabeth emigrated to Otago in 1874 with her family on the Mairi Bhan.

The family farmed in the Catlins at Tahatika near Owaka where Elizabeth signed the suffrage petition.

Elizabeth did not marry but she appears to have had a son in 1883.

She died at the Seacliff Hospital on 18 March 1937 and she is buried in the Waitati Cemetery.
