Elizabeth How Strachan was born in Glasgow, Scotland on 11 December 1864 – the daughter of Charles Strachan and Elizabeth Chalmers. (See 104 Elizabeth H Strachan)
Elizabeth emigrated to Otago with her family in 1881 on the Jessie Readman and they settled in Milton where she signed the suffrage petition.
In 1895 the family moved to Timaru.
Elizabeth died there on 14 September 1930, she is buried in the family grave in the Timaru Cemetery.
