Ellen/Helen Cameron was born in 1870 in New Zealand – the daughter of Robert Young Cameron and Ann McDonald.
Her mother died shortly after her birth and when Ellen signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Hampden in North Otago.
She married Robert Douglas Aitcheson, a shepherd, on 5 April 1907.
Their son Norman was born on 20 January 1908 – Ellen and Norman three days later – they are buried in the Hampden Cemetery.
Robert re-married in 1912 (See 302 A Andrew), he died in 1935 and is also buried in the Hampden Cemetery.
