Ellen Crowe was born about 1870 in Ireland – the daughter of Michael James Crowe, a labourer, and Mary. (See 28 Mrs J. Crowe)
She emigrated to Otago in 1874 on the Peter Denny with her family and they settled in Dunedin.
When Ellen signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Pine Hill Terrace, North East Valley, Dunedin working as a tailoress.
She did not marry & she died at Timaru on 1 September 1965 - she is buried in the Timaru Cemetery.
