Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Esther Ludlow was born about 1851 in New Zealand – the daughter of Frederick Ludlow and Alison Rodger.
Although there is no record she appears to have 'married' Alexander Henderson Fraser, a bushman and farmer, in the late 1860s.
They had 13 children, at least one who died in infancy.
When Esther signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Owaka.
Her portrait can be seen at https://www.nzmuseums.co.nz/collections/3021/objects/1239072/esther-fraser-portrait
Esther died at Owaka on 23 March 1924 and Alexander died in 1929, they are buried in the Owaka Cemetery.
