Florence Beryl Ebbott (Ebbitt) was born c 1858-1864 in Dublin, Ireland.

In December 1879 Florence was working as a Housemaid at the Ocean View Hotel (now Governor’s Bay Hotel), Governor’s Bay, Lyttelton.

On 4 March 1880 Florence married Edmund Maurice Vigers, Farmer, son of Charles Kenneth Vigers and Ann Thompson in Christchurch.

Florence and Edmund had eight children; Annie born 1881, Maude born 1882, Norah Hellen born 1886, Mary Rutledge born 1888, Charles Edmund born 1890, Florence Beryl born 1894, James Kenneth born 1897 and George Ebbitt born 1901.

The electoral rolls 1900 – 1905-06 record Florence Vigers living in Waituna and Edmund in Waimate, occupation Farmer.

In 1907 Edmund sold his freehold property of 78 acres at Hook to Mr W Nicholas.

The electoral rolls from 1911 until their deaths in 1950 and 1942 respectively show Florence and Edmund living at18 Edward Street, Waimate.

Florence died on 2 October 1950 in Waimate and is buried in the Waimate Old cemetery in the Anglican section, Plot 0015AN000538 alongside her husband Edmund who is buried in Plot 0015AN000537.  He died on 7 July 1942.
