Woodville Examiner, 30 November 1917:

'OBITUARY.

Grace Morgan
aged 78 years.

Old residents of Woodville and district will learn with sincere regret of the death of Mrs J. H. Morgan, who passed away at her residence in Upper McLean Street on Wednesday night, aged 78 years. The deceased lady was born in Cornwall (England) and came to New Zealand to be married to Mr J. H, Morgan in 1871-, he being then in Napier. After the marriage Mr and Mrs Morgan lived in Napier for three years, coming to Woodville in 1877 and living here ever since. Mrs Morgan was well known and very highly esteemed, her kindly nature and generous heart winning her hosts of friends wherever she went. Many settlers in the early days had reason to be grateful for her sympathetic and practical aid in sickness and trouble, and to her husband she was indeed a helpmate, bearing bravely with him the trials and vicissitudes so many of our pioneers experienced, and doing her full share of the hard and unceasing toil that fell to the lot of the early settlers. With her bereaved husband and family the deepest sympathy will be felt. She leaves three daughters and one son, Mrs Worboys, Mrs R. Richards, Mrs F, Hurley, and Mr R. H, Morgan.'

Her daughter-in-law, Esther Morgan, signed the same petition sheet.
