Helen Marshall Lyons was born about 1850 in Scotland.
She married John Easton Greigg Smith on September 7th 1871 in Queensland, Australia. Soon after their marriage they moved to New Zealand.
When Helen signed the suffrage petition they were living in Waikouaiti, north of Dunedin.
Helen died at their home on May 2nd 1900. She is buried in the Waikouaiti Cemetery.
John moved back to Australia. He died in Tenterfield, New South Wales in 1912 and is buried in the White Swamp Cemetery.
