Jane Pattinson Gray was born in 1868 in Waikouaiti, the daughter of John Gray and Mary McGregor.
When Jane signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Palmerston.
She married William Cook, a painter, on June 5th 1893 in Palmerston. They had a daughter the following year.
They lived in Dunedin where William died in 1939 and Jane died on June 20th 1943.
They are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
