Jannet (Jessie) Herbertson was born about 1825.
She married Robert Pearson in Victoria, Australia in 1859. They had two children, one who died in infancy, before they sailed for New Zealand about 1862.
They had one more child after their arrival, and settled in Waikouaiti where Robert ran a store and Jessie signed the suffrage petition.
In later life they went to live with their daughter in Lower Hutt, where Robert died in 1911 and Jessie died on March 30th 1912.
They are buried with their daughter in the Karori Cemetery.
