Maud Elizabeth Blackburn was born about 1861 in Ireland.
She emigrated to Otago about 1880 and she married James Weir on 9 November 1882 in Dunedin.
They had five children and when Maud signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Kelvin Grove, North East Valley and James was working as a coach builder.
Maud died at her home on 23 February 1916 and James died in 1942 at their son’s home in Oamaru.
They are buried in the family grave in the Northern Cemetery.
