Margaret Somerville Miller was born in 1869 in New Zealand – the daughter of Peter Miller, a farmer, and Agnes Winter. (See 136 A Miller)
She married James Cooper, a farmer, on 7 August 1889 in Owaka and they had three children.
When Margaret signed the suffrage petition they were living in Owaka.
The family moved to Dunedin in 1899 – Margaret died there on 8 July 1900, shortly after the birth of their third child, she is buried in the Owaka Cemetery.
James re-married in 1908 and he moved to Waikouaiti, north of Dunedin.
He died in 1946 and is buried in the Waikouaiti Cemetery with his second wife.
