Margaret Fairley was born in 1864 in New Zealand – the daughter of James Fairley, a platelayer, and Margaret.
She married William Grey, a railway porter, on December 29th 1888 in Dunedin and they had 6 children.
When Margaret signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Palmerston, north of Dunedin.
They retired to Dunedin soon after where William died in 1895.
Margaret died at her home on December 2nd 1927. She is buried with William in the Southern Cemetery.
