Mary Hamilton was born about 1855. She arrived in New Zealand in the mid 1860s.
Mary married Archibald Henderson Ritchie, a labourer, on May 23rd 1879 in the Palmerston parish.
They had 7 children, one who died in infancy. When Mary signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Palmerston.
Archibald died at their home in 1921 and Mary died at her daughter’s home in Dunedin on June 13th 1927. They are buried in the Palmerston Cemetery.
