Johanna May Nimmo was born in 1872 in Dunedin – the daughter of Robert Nimmo, a seed merchant, and Euphemia Henderson Wilson. (See 175 Euphemia Nimmo)
When May signed the suffrage petition she was living with her widowed mother in Carisbrook, Dunedin.
She married James Farquharson, an accountant, on 4 April 1902 at St Andrew’s Church in Dunedin.
They had three children and lived in Dunedin.
James died in April 1950 and May died on 22 October the same year, they were both cremated.
