Elizabeth Clydesdale was born on 6 February 1843 in Glasgow, Scotland – the daughter of Alexander Clydesdale, a baker, and Euphemia McGregor.
She married David Feathers, a bootmaker, on 28 August 1868 in Glasgow and they had three sons before the family emigrated to Otago in 1875 on the Aldergrove – their fourth son, Aldergrove, was born on the voyage.
They settled in Dunedin and when Elizabeth signed the suffrage petition they were living in Kelvin Grove, North East Valley.
They had a further five children – one died in infancy and three of their children died in childhood.
Aldergrove died in 1882 when he was run over when getting off a tram on his way to church, the children are buried together in the Northern Cemetery.
Elizabeth died at her home on 16 February 1900 and David died in Oamaru in 1930, they are buried together in the Northern Cemetery.
