Alice Chapman Brown was born about 1849 in Scotland.
She married David Brown Lister, a carter, on 26 March 1875 in Edinburgh and later that year they emigrated to Otago on the Invercargill.
They had five children and when Alice signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Maria Rd, South Dunedin.
Alice died at their home in Macandrew Rd on 1 December 1896, she is buried in the Southern Cemetery.
David died in 1918, he is buried in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
