Lena Campbell was born Helena Westphal c 1873.

On 6 November 1890 Helena married Robert Campbell in Waimate, South Canterbury.  Helena was the fourth daughter of Mr F Westphal of Waituna, Farmer.

Lena and Robert had ten children; Robert John born 1891, James born 1893, Margaret Sutherland born 1895, Helena Christina born 1897, William Frederick born 1899, Elizabeth Annie born 1901, George Henry born 1903, Thomas Alexander born 1907, Colin Clifford born 1909 and Robert John born 1917.

The two eldest sons; James and Robert John were killed in WW1.

At the time of the Waituna School Jubilee, Canon Wollstein asked Lena Westphal (Mrs Campbell), one of the oldest scholars to cut the cake.

Robert Campbell died on 9 October 1924 age 72 years in Waimate.

Lena Campbell died on 6 September 1945 age 72 years and is buried in the Waimate Old cemetery, Presbyterian section, Plot 000045.
