Ann Hunt was born in 1862 in New Zealand – the daughter of John Lobb Hunt and Margaret.

She married 50-year-old Edward William Pearsey, a carpenter and gold miner, in 1890 and they had seven children, two who died in childhood.

When Ann signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Colac Bay in Southland.

Edward died in 1922 and Ann died in Riverton on 28 March 1957 – they are buried in the family grave in the Riverton Cemetery.
