Bridget O’Halloran was born about 1840 in Ireland.

She married Thomas Rattigan in Auckland in 1866. Shortly after they moved to Waikouaiti, north of Dunedin.

They had seven children, two who died in infancy.

Bridget signed the suffrage petition in Waikouaiti.

Thomas died in 1909 when their four-roomed cottage burned to the ground while Bridget was on holiday.

Bridget remained in Waikouaiti where she died on August 5th 1918. They are buried in the family grave in the Waikouaiti Cemetery.
