Mary was born about 1841 and she was married to William Henry Trubshaw, a miner and surfaceman.
They lived in Paddy’s Point near Waitahuna in South Otago from the 1860s onwards and this is where Mary signed the suffrage petition.
They did not have any children – Mary died on 25 May 1895 and William died in Riverton in 1900, they are buried together in the Waitahuna Cemetery.
