Robertas Patterson was born about 1852 in New Zealand, the daughter of Andrew Patterson, a farmer, and Margaret.
She married Donald Murray Mackay, a bank manager and widower with 4 children, on Mary 30th 1882 at Springfield, Temuka.
They had four children together and when Robertas signed the suffrage petition they were living in Waikouaiti, north of Dunedin.
They later moved to Wellington where Donald died in 1907 and Robertas died on May 31st 1916. They are buried in the Karori Cemetery.
