1979 Blair Peach killed in London

New Zealander Blair Peach was killed during a clash between police and protesters at an anti-fascism rally in Southall, London. The 33-year-old special-needs teacher and member of the Anti-Nazi League suffered head injuries and later died in hospital. A primary school in Southall was named in his memory.

A Metropolitan Police report finally released in 2010 found that Peach died as a result of being hit on the head by a policeman who could not be identified with certainty because of collusion among members of the paramilitary Special Patrol Group.
